Conan People of the Black Circle: Looking at Conan and King Conan sales. Going with the higher plus a few. I hate mini series’ but in this case we have precedence on how the license sells. Beware the Batman: A lot of years ago I read reviews of the first Pokemon movie. It got terrible reviews. It made million$. Everyone knew exactly the ‘treat’ they were in for as they dropped their $6 on the movie to keep the kids happy. To review a book or movie aimed at kids is a silly game to play. As such, this could be a complete lox as far as story goes and it will still sell to the demographic it’s designed for. Ordering like Batman Beyond Unlimited is selling but don’t think the numbers will stick at that level for long. Catwoman: Throw out the Catwoman cycle sheet on this and look at what you COULD have sold on Joker’s Daughter if you had them to sell. Yeah, ordering that many, which is Catwoman several times over. Forever Evil Argus: I’m trying to come up with something nice to say about this book but I’m getting no help from the Gallery. Steve Trevor fans unite! – in a very small room with maybe 8 chairs. My numbers are coming in just a bit above Larfleez, which is not a compliment. Justice League Dark: Trinity War is over but this still looks like a cross-over so we’ll see a residual bump. Bloodhound Crowbar Medicine: I’m trying to find something nice to say about this title but inevitably it all comes down to it just not being very marketable on an already crowded stand. So this one falls in the ‘Minimum I Can Sell’ category. What exactly is the ‘Minimum I Can Sell’ (MICS) category? If DC puts out a book that looks bad – we’ll use Movement for this example – there is still a number of buyers who will still buy it because they either can’t resist a #1 or are looking to be on board when the next Big Thing kicks off; the latter being more the Image MICS supporters. This number has gone up over the last few years as we’ve seen more instant money out of Image #1s and some great reads as well. I don’t expect Bloodhound Crowbar Medicine to be the next unexpected eBay phenomenon but there are collectors and speculators who will but it just to be sure. The number varies between stores and publishers but it’s a good idea to figure this number out so you don’t lose sales on even a project with little potential. So yeah, MICS on this one. Shoot First: A BIG ACTION, BIG ADVENTURE all in 4 issues? MICS. Batman & Two-Face: Two-Face isn’t the story here, Carrie Kelly is. Peter J. Tomasi, our intrepid writer of the book, seems to be a fan of Frank Miller’s Robin and this could be her origin story. Or it could be a Red Robin – er, Herring. Ordering like Batman & Nightwing sold plus some for the speculators and...
