FOC 01.27.14

Terminator: Enemy of My Enemy: A throwback Terminator time travel story. Check against your sales of the current mini, and maybe bump a couple copies. White Suits: Don't go nuts, but I think this will sell better than expected. Middle of the road DH series. Animal Man: Ending soon. Keep a couple for back issues when Buddy joins the Justice League in April. Harley Quinn: This is not the book to be cutting too far too fast. It has legs all the way through the sales period, and history shows that Harley back issues are no problem to sell. Supergirl: This issue will change her forever! Well let’s hope so because the current version is shedding sales faster than a speeding bullet. Ordering and pulling for Red Lanterns – find the (hopefully) hew ceiling or let it die. Undertow: Pulp adventure with an Atlantean weird science twist. Aim for your Conan readers plus a few for that New Image #1 bounce. Marvel Now Point One 2nd Print: This looks more like marketing than filling an actual need. Pass as I still have enough 1st prints to see me through the inevitable Marvel Now Point One Right Now. Avengers World: #1 came out strong but ouch, the fans didn’t flock in for #2. Cutting by 30-40% across the board. Still too many Avengers titles and even with the main cast on this one it’s getting overlooked due to burn out. Brilliant: There is nothing brilliant about a book that’s 2 years late and still carries the solicitation update from February that it’s an ongoing series. Subs only and be happy...

FCBD Order Edition

Coliseum Retailer Tools FCBD Edition Archie Digest: We saw a bit of an increase in Archie titles last year and for a digest at 25 cents this is worthy of a gold book. Order up. Bongo: We went through hundreds of these last year and sales on the Simpsons remained almost exactly the same as before we paid the bill of several hundred bucks. Without some means of bouncing back, this is just giving away money. Low. Kaboom Summer Blast: A nice anthology of Boom’s titles but I’m not thrilled at the 30 cent pricetag. With Adventure Time sales sliding, this could pop them back up again. Moderate. Avatar Itty Bitty Hellboy Rexodus: The Avatar trades continues to sell in nice numbers but the Itty Bitty, Lil, and Tiny books are played out and not worth looking at for sales. Juice Squeezers got a big pass here so this book is strictly about Avatar for us. Moderate. DC New 52 Future’s End: Of all the books this has the most potential (with a nod to Guardians). Van Sciver doing the art will carry some weight and the cover alone will bring customers back. No matter what else fans pick up on FCBD, this one should already be in the bag of comics they take home. I will call out DC for not having the lowest or tied for the lowest cost book here. High. Uncle Scrooge: I love Uncle Scrooge. I love Don Rosa’s ducks. What I don’t love is that there’s no product to sell on bounce back Rosa’s Life & Times and Companion books are out of...
