DC 1.5

DC September 1.5 Some key things to keep in mind when ordering these: 1. They are not going to be allocated, which means that every store should have them (in a perfect world). The scarcity drove sales on the previous event so be wary here. 2. This is the second bite at this apple so don’t expect it to have the splash and sensation of the first time. 3. Don’t give away the profits on what could be a very lucrative month by over-ordering. My DC order this month is about 80% of a normal total catalogue. We’ll have plenty to sell and make money on without warehousing spent money. 4. There is a minimum of even the worst titles that you will sell to the completists. Figure that number and don’t go below it. 5. The standard issues sold relatively poorly for us. The only ones we got any traction on were those that sold out of the 3D cover. Ordering low – 10% type of low. Booster Gold: No official word is this is the first issue on an ongoing series but fans will want this. They won’t want it for long but for the launch, they’ll want it. Ordering 80% of Future’s End #3. Grayson: This feels very ‘Winter Soldier’ to me. Ordering in Batman numbers. New Suicide Squad: Pull for Harley. No Brainer. New Titans: This series has been a disappointment so I don’t see a significant bump here. Ordering lower than the others so far. Star Spangled Zombie: For the completionists only. Justice League: Should do about the same as Justice League plus 25%....

1 for $1 The Strain: FX has a series scheduled to premiere in July. The next Walking Dead? Probably not, but people will be wanting to know more about the novels and this book. Eye of Newt: What looks to be a lovely book with no one to sell it to. It looks to be a standard Hero’s Journey tale, but there’s not really a book on the stands to compare for sales. Get a couple of copies for your Pathfinder readers, perhaps? Witchfinder Mysteries of Unland: Order for your BPRD diehards. Batman & Ra’s: That’s a pretty lousy Bombshell cover. Batwoman: We’ll probably sell more Batwoman Bombshell covers than we normally sell of Batwoman. Harley Quinn Bombshells Variant: Some of you aren’t as sold on the Bombshells covers’ sales longevity as I am. However, if you don’t order lots of this one, I will laugh and say “I told you so.” When you run out. Harley is selling very well and this cover will be one that will sell for a very long time. Wonder Woman Bombshells Variant: Ditto on this one. Godzilla IDW Era: As hot as the Big Green Guy is right now, a 32-page recap book for $3.99? Order a couple for your G-fans, but not past that. Kill Shakespeare Mask of Night: Check your sales for KS Tide of Blood. V-Wars: This title just got announced for a TV development deal. We’re close enough to #1 to catch up for any increased demand for early issues, so keep an eye on sales for these. Winterworld: A classic back-issue-bin placeholder returns. Get a couple of...

Second Chance At Sarah: This looks like an interesting book, but there’s not really any hook that jumps out as a selling point. I’d pick up at least one copy to try and sell to Ten Grand subs. DC Bombshell Covers: These are the ones that are going to sell well and forever. With no limit on these, there’s no reason not to go 50/50 on these. Batgirl: Bombshell cover. Birds of Prey: Harley Quinn vs Batgirl front and center on the cover. Pull for Suicide Squad. Green Lantern Corps: Bombshell cover. Infinity Man & the Forever People: This might sell better than Green Team, but only just. There’s no reason to be optimistic on this. Order low and pray you sell out. The clock is already ticking on this one. Superman Wonder Woman: Bombshell cover Angry Birds Comics: Dazzler. Superman vs Muhammad Ali. Add this to the list of trends comics have tried to tap into after the moment has passed. Cartoon Network Super Secret Crisis War!: This is going to be a fun series that a lot of people will be buying. Order for your highest selling CN title plus a few. TMNT Turtles in Time: Don’t go low on this one. This isn’t another side character series. Red City: Looks like someone wrote a bog standard noir comic, then stuck in Mars. No one was impressed by the preview. Get a couple for Image #1, but don’t expect much. That’s Because You’re A Robot: Order if you have a hardcore indie contingent. Wildfire: Haven’t heard anything great of this series. Look at The Massive or Great...
