Plants Vs Zombies: Popular video game means people recognize it. That doesn’t mean it will sell but there’s some market and DH is giving us returns to find the ceiling if we order 20 copies. Worth doing. Batman Harley Quinn TP: The cover will sell copies. Order not to sell out. Black Canary: Not a lot of demand for this but go for the 50% of Batman for the discount and returnability. Doomed: I don’t see this selling at all. I can’t even recommend killing the trees to hit the incentive on this despite the returnability. Half Superman and then do the math to see if it’s worth going for the incentive, which is unlikely. Dr. Fate: Because the Dr. Fate T-shirts, movies, and merchandise are red hot… oh wait, that’s the Bizarro Universe. Throw on a cover that makes you wonder why they didn’t finish it and this will be a lox though a slow burning lox. The incentive isn’t going to be sales numbers but it’s worth chasing it on this one to find the ceiling. Harley Quinn and Power Girl: The incentive on this is a gimme. I would have made it 100% of Batman but a gift is a gift. Order in Harley numbers plus some. Mad Max Fury Road Furosia: With Mad Max #1 a week old and selling on eBay for $15-$22 it‘s a sure bet that fans will want this as well. I’m thinking 150% of what you sold on Mad Max as we’ll be 3 more weeks out from the movie when this hits. Martian Manhunter: I don’t think I could...

Midnight Society Black Lake: Nothing wrong wih this except that it will get lost during a month a Marvel and DC launch madness. Some but that’s a low ‘some’. Batman: Fans will want to see what follows. Hit the incentive. Joker cover is ‘eh’ but it will still do rather well. Batman Superman: 25% over the previous issue. New Bats, New Supes. Joker cover is pretty creepy. Catwoman: You can choose the bad regular cover or the blah Joker cover but get the incentive. Fans will check these out. Constantine: I have zero faith that this will sell at 50% of Batman but it’s DC’s dime and this will give us the ceiling. Detective: I don’t this this jumping a whole lot but that10% sholdn’t be a challenge. I am not an artist but if I had the chance to do a Joker cover for any DC book I’d like to think I would want it to be the best thing I’d ever done. Not impressed with almost any of these Joker covers. Earth 2 Society: I see this tanking pretty quickly so without a major incentive on #2 I see us ordering about 50% of whatever the ceiling is on #1. Hit the incentive and DC will pay to find the ceiling. Fables TP Vol 22: Also doubles as Fables 150 so pull for Fables. Harley: No reason for a bump except we sell Harley forever so buy hem cheap. Great Joker cover! Justice League of America: Order in Batman numbers or even a bit higher. No problem selling this. Split up the orders over the various covers....

Convergence #6 I’ll admit, I’m glad I stuck with the book.  The domes have fallen and the heroes of the multiverse find allies, creating their own army of familiar faces from the past decades.  Likewise, Deimos has put together his own army of villains.  Both sides believe they are fighting for their lives so what comes of this in the next couple issues will be pretty entertaining, especially since the New 52 heroes are joining the fight. Secret Wars #2 A bit difficult to get into, but the long and short of it is, Doom is God of Battleworld.  We find references and learn each “world” is ruled by a Baron, and although each Baron can do whatever they please in their domain, any inter-domain problems are brought up directly to Doom.  Policing the entire system is a legion of Thors, all wielding hammers and carrying out Justice. Injustice YR 4 #1 After losing battle after battle, comrade after comrade, Batman is defeated and doesn’t know where to turn.  Superman and his allies have crushed the Green Lantern Corps, Trigon and a number of seemingly impossible threats.  Then Batman answers the call of an unlikely ally: Ares.  The God of War wants in on the fight, and the rest of Olympus is soon to follow. Thor #8 It’s Jane Foster....

A word about: Returnability. Many publishers are now offering returnbility with incentive-level orders. One of the greatest challenges for publishers has been getting retailers to order enough books so they’re not sold out of the newest issues by Thursday morning. So now they’re offering to put a lot of books on your stands on their dime, knowing that most retailers won’t bother to send the unsold books back. So here’s this week’s challenge and I strongly suggest you accept it as this IS the direction the industry is moving in: Figure out a system that works for you to return unsold books. A well-financed store has some very profitable possibilities these days. Age of Reptiles: These have always gotten some play but the audience is limited to people predisposed to read about dinosaurs. No words so it’s a dinosaur going around eating things and facing other dinosaurs. Subs and a few. Action Comics: There should be a bit of added interest to check out the new Superman. Throw blood on his fists and there’s a second look. The Joker variant is clowny at best but Joker fans will still want it. Batmite: The incentive level here is ridiculous but as DC is giving us 15% added discount just to return a (big) bunch of unsold copies, let’s go for it. Pull for Batman just because. Batman Beyond: Though not as ridiculous, the incentive is doubly high and we won’t come close to selling Batman numbers on this. Order for the incentive and find the ceiling on DC’s dime. Bizarro: Order 50% of Batman – shouldn’t this be a Superman-based...

Fight Cub: Judging from the response on FCBD this will get some play. The covers are crap for the series and the Bermejo cover would sell best but it’s an unlock incentive cover. Looking at medium to strong numbers on #1. Action Comics: Sold middle to low/high numbers but too many left if not for the incentive that allowed for ‘free’ copies. Cutting to match orders. Blue Beetle: Sold out of low numbers on #1. Yay! We didn’t lose money! Ordering about the same on #2. Booster Gold: Almost sold out of #1. See Blue Beetle. Crime Syndicate: See Booster Gold. Detective Comics: Like Action, the extra copies are all that’s left. Ordering #2 how #1 sold. Infinity Inc: Ouch. Didn’t sell out of low numbers in 3 out of 5 stores. And I thought we couldn’t get much lower but we’ll put that to the test on #2. Justice Society: Sold out of low numbers in 3 out of 5 stores. Match-to. Plastic Man: See JS above. Shazam: Decent seller and will likely need reorders before we see #2. Match to #1 sales. World’s Finest: Like the other almost-sold-out books above. Cover Girl Red Lantern Bleez: I can’t imagine anyone buying this and I have a pretty vivid imagination. Gotham City Garage Harley: To me this doesn’t look much like Harley. Will probably sell just the same. Wonder Woman Art of War Jill Thompson: These aren’t getting the play that the Batman B&W statues got and seem to be viewed as “another WW statue already?”. Eh. Not much interest here. Indestructible Stingray: I was thinking this had some...
