New Mgmt: Pull for Mind Mgmt. Should sell the same. Batman Endgame Special Edition: Kudos to DC on this one. Nice story start and they’re including a new story, all for 15 whole cents. Batman Day book. Order it like a mid-tier FCBD book and give it out liberally. Every subscriber should have one in their box. Black Canary: Sales dropped by half from #1 to #2, which does not bode well for reader retention. I’d cut to 80% of what you sold here and hope for the best. Doomed: The title says it all. Down to single digits in all stores and low single digits at that. Order subs and wait for this to go away. Dr. Fate: Dropped by 60% from #1 to #2. So much for critical acclaim. Cutting to sales minus 15%. Martian Manhunter: Another lackluster performance. Sales minus 15%. Prez: I was hoping this would be quirky enough to keep a bigger percentage of the #1 readers than it did. Another cut below sales title. Robin Son of Batman: Even a known commodity like Robin isn’t immune to a horrific slide in this market. 50-60% of #1 sales. Betting it drops another 15% on #3. Secret Six/Bombshell: This series has been plagued by misstarts and general ennui but the Harley cover will sell. Likely not in Harley numbers but at least double what we’ve been seeing Secret Six drop to. TMNT Amazing Adventures: Reboot of the animated series. Should bring in a few new people as #1 is always a fun place to start. Order 10 and it’s returnable. Rat Queens: The Powers of...

I was in Miami recently for Supercon and someone who knows quite a bit about the comic business suggested that Marvel could maintain the seat of power at the movies (Ant-Man was tons of fun) and keep all other contenders down if they stopped publishing comics. Interesting thing there as it would kill projects before being birthed as stores, Diamond, and other publishers floundered under the weight of not being able to lose 40% of the market. But publishing makes a small fortune for Disney so the next best thing it to force everyone else off the stands. Relaunch a bevy of #1s two or three times a year and sprinkle in several mega-crossovers and all the oxygen leaves the room for anyone else. Interesting times ahead but there’s money to be made so long as we don’t give our profits away to the publishers. We’ll call our first entry this week the Crispus Attucks of the Marvel war. King Tiger: Zero subs for this in all our stores. Who are we to second guess that many buying patrons. Zero is looking pretty strong. All-Star Section 8: Miserable sales. Down to subs. Batman: First appearance of Mr. Bloom – whoever that will be. The Bombshell cover sucks as a bombshell cover. DC Comics Bombshells: Mixed reviews on this one from the Gallery. Online comic but a smart debut during another round of Bombshell covers. Looking at Ami Comi numbers but thinking 2X those sales though I expect this to drop pretty rapidly. Harley: Bombshell is a Joker cover. Should do better than the rest. JLA G&M: It seems like...

Adam 3: Scott Kolins is a polarizing creator and being a Dark Horse title it’s got limited #1 potential. 15 copies gets you an additional 15% so do the math. This Damned Band: Meh. Likely will require some hand-selling if you’re going to move many of these. Another 15 for 15% deal. Do the math. Two Brothers: Ba and Moon fans will give this a look. Bombshells: The first round of these did very well. But, the allure of variant covers has worn thin and DC has had some pretty lackluster months of mediocre variants. I suggested to DC that they do a round of war-type recruiting covers like the WWI & WWII posters to highlight the men of the DCU but we get a Hal Jordan Bombshell? Alex Ross JL Action Figure set: $20 a figure doesn’t seem too nuts but $100 for 6 seems high. I know, doesn’t make sense but I think that’s the customer mentality on this. Maybe one or two for the diehards. Batman Animated Figures: the usual suspects will sell but Penguin & Riddler are for completists only. Roxy (Who?) Rocket at 39.95 is a massive waste of cash resources except for special order. Batman Arkham Knight Genesis: Pull for Arkham Knight plus get some extras of the Jim Lee cover for the Lee fans. Thinking 140% of what Arkham Knight sold at on #1. Batman Year 100: Batfans won’t want this unless they’re also Paul Pope fans. Pretty tiny subset of customers. Crisis on Infinite Earths HC: Nice package but at 49.99 I don’t think we’ll have a rabid line of buyers,...

Lobster Johnson: One would think this should sell like BPRD but one would be wrong if history is right. 50-75% of BPRD. Sherlock Holmes and Necronomicon: When we get multiple subs for a HC book it gets my attention. At 17.99 it might get the attention of your Sherlock fans as they tend to be hardcore. Batgirl Annual: Annuals are always hit or miss but when one gets 3 additional artists at the last minute I tend to think this one won’t appeal to the same fans who are reading the book currently. 80% of Batgirl. Bizarro: Looks like it’s settling into a lower-selling kids style book. Deathstroke Annual: Same crowd who loves Deathstroke will love this. Flash Annual: Meh. Same as. About 90% of Flash. GI Zombie TP: Kill it. Drag it into the parking lot and set it on fire. Whatever you do, don’t order it! Look for this on the canceled list in about 2 weeks. Gotham By Midnight Annual: This could be the best story with the best art ever and no one will ever pay 4.99 to find out. A few and that means not a whole lot at all. JLA G&M Superman: I’m going to wait and see how G&M #1 does before committing to anything over a few copies on this. Possibly the most boring cover ever devised for a Superman book. Throw in the digital first thing and this one starts to gain the aroma of a 3 week old carp. Lobo Annual: Looks more like a Sinestro cover than Lobo and that’s a good thing. Order like a regular Lobo...
