Slayer Repentless:  #1 did okay and Slayer fans are now aware of it so #2 should sell about the same. Batman 66 Meets WW: #1 did as expected.  The Bats 66 has a steady fanbase who will buy any of these. Same as #1 Sales. Batman by BKV TP: No love from the Gallery or need on this one. Cyborg TP: Not worth getting 5 for a better discount if 5 of them are still sticking around a month later.  This one simply doesn’t sell. Justice League of America: Mostly secondary characters but it’s returnable so find the ceiling on DC’s Dime. Justice League of America C2C Variant: This year’s In-Store Convention Kick-Off has been rebranded the Coast To Coast Comic Con.  If you participated last year, thank you and we hope you’ll join us to expand on the event this year.  If you didn’t, please consider it this year.  What if the C2C?  A live-streaming 8 hour event available ONLY to brick & mortar comic retailers.  All major publishers will be represented with panels and more than a dozen guest creators will be doing live interviews.  Paul Levitz and Ross Richie will be opening and closing the event with bookending Keynote addresses.  The event starts at Noon ET and runs until 8:00 ET.  All you need to run the event is internet access and a monitor/TV.  Your personal login is available by signing up in a few weeks.  Exclusive covers are available only to participants and have a street date of March 4th, 2017, the day of the broadcast.  Go to www.coasttocoastcomiccon.com for more info and watch for...

Angel  Season 11: Remember the Angel series?  No? Neither did anyone else.  Very disappointing in most stores. Empowered Soldier of Love: Been a while since we’ve seen new Empowered.  Fun stuff but fun usually does ‘t sell as well as standard super-heroes. Visitor How & Why He Stayed: Fans of BPRD will love this.  Pull for the recent Hellboy BPRD cross-overs. Batwoman: Will likely fall into the midrange Bat-Family but start off by pulling for Detective.  Returnable so get it in the hands of people who might want them. Odyssey of the Amazons: No data on #1 so subs only and ARO if need be. Super Sons: Lot of good buzz about this one. Returnable so look at Superman numbers and go up from there. Supergirl Being Super: #1 did well.  85% of what sold on #1. Wild Storm: When Warren Ellis is on, he’s phenominal.  This is the universe that put some of this best credits on the masthead with Stormwatch and Authority so here’s to hoping that excitement is back.  Returnable so looking at Doom Patrol #1 numbers. The Gallery doesn’t think we’ll see amazing sales out of this. Darkness Visible: The Gallery isn’t excited about this but 10 copies gets returnability so let’s see where it lands. Highlander American Dream: Recognizable property with some nostalgia attached.  10 copies makes it 50% returnable and I think most of our stores can move 5 copes. Starstruck: Starstruck (What’s that?) by Michael Kaluta (Who’s that?)!  Most people under 40 have no idea what this is so if the concept and art won’t appeal to current fans this will be...

All Star Batman: New artist should stop the always-present slide after #1. Deathstroke TP: Order 5, get 5%. Sales have been slowing on this but worth it if you can move 5 in a few months. Detective: 950th issue so that’s something.  Still doing pretty well. Justice League of America Rebirth: Returnable so don’t be that guy who sells out.  That’s the big plus.  Down side is that this is a sort-of Batman & the Outsiders type iteration with secondary characters under the mantle of JLA. Other big plus is Ivan Reis doing the art so it will look fantastic. Thinking about 75% of what’s selling on JL right now and return what doesn’t sell. JL Power Rangers: Sold exceptionally well so what we sold plus some. Suicide Squad: Choosing between a Harley or an Amanda Waller cover seems like a no-brainer except when the artist draws Heavy Quinn to look like a middle-age housewife doing bad cosplay. Jim Lee to JRJR?  Get out the chainsaw and start cutting. That said, Bermejo’s Waller cover looks pretty amazing. Superwoman: The death of Superwoman?  Sales are dropping so fast no one will notice. Motor Crush: Most of the fans for #1 didn’t materialize for #2.  Cutting to sales. Seven to Eternity TP: Should hit our Top 10 is not Top 5 right away. Snotgirl TP: Another that will start pretty high on the list.  Still don’t get the allure but it sells. Cloak & Dagger TP: 34.99 for characters no one is looking for reprinting a series from 30 years ago that no one cared about then? Zero. Guardians Best Bendis...

Baltimore: One is pretty much the same as the last.  Same crowd. Hellboy Into the Silent Sea HC: OGN so it’s worth getting some for the hardcore Hellboy crowd.  Only 56 pages but the price is right so pull for Helboy subs. B&W Nightwing Statue: The first Nightwing statue in B&W.  Thinking half of whatever you sold on the first Harley. Batman & Ego HC: At $39.99 there’re a lot of other Bat-choices for Batfans.  I don’t see Cooke fans jumping on material already collected in various formats. Fall & Rise of Captain Atom: Our low expectations were exceeded!  Holding steady until proven otherwise. Jack of Fables Vol 1 HC: Fables step-brother in a $39.99 HC?  Pass. Zatana TP: Another $39.99 offering but this one is for canceled series Zatana?  Wow.  Couldn’t drop a zero on this line fast enough. Black History in Its Own Words: Worth a few copies. Image Classics 25th Anniversary Edition: At about 12 cents a copy this should be given free to every subscriber.  No-lose situation.  You’re not going to get a better sales tool for 12 cents. Order for all subs. Planetoid Praxis: Not a lot to recommend this.  Low end. Walking Dead 163: It’s a quarter or 12 cents to us.  The question is, how much can you get for the 1/200 and 1/500 variants.  eBay has them selling quite well at about $125 for the set.  Problem is, these are about to flood the market so unless you’ve already cashed in there, expect the variants to be common by the time it comes out.  $62.50 gets you one 1/500 and two...

My annual disclaimer: You know your store better than I.  These notes are what's sent to the store managers after the Gallery -- a collection of managers and employees -- give individual feedback. If they work for you, great.  If not, I have been known to be wrongs once in a while and even the entirety of the Gallery (and sometimes the industry) is pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised by something that resonates or hits a flat note.  I generally don't defend my position as it's what works for my stores though feedback is always appreciated. Happy sales and Happy New Year! Hellboy Winter Special: Should do about the same as any other Hellboy.  Hellboy fans tend to read anything Hellboy by Mignola. Milk & Cheese Boxed Pint Glass Set: Any M&C fans still lurking in the woodwork?  This is a fun item for those who still remember M&C. Slayer Repentless: Like any band, there’s a following but like any comic, will those fans care?  Likely to do Kiss numbers or a bit less.  10 gets you an additional 10%. DC: Lot of “Next Issue” going on these days with DC but at least they seem to be finding their plateau. JLofA Killer Frost: Show it to Frozen fans… no, bad idea.  Likely to do better than Captain Atom and Atom one-shots thanks to her Flash appearances but that’s not saying much. Kamandi Challenge: If you’re trying to sell this to Kamandi fans (Timm & Giffen covers) there’s a very small subset of readers who remember the character at all let along remember him fondly. If you want to capitalize...
