Aquaman: Stjepan Sejic’s first issue caught some attention. This is likely to be one of those runs that people look for years from now like the Marshal Rogers or Neal Adams runs on DC books. The Josh Middleton cover is beautiful. Batgirl Stephanie Brown TP: Bit out of current continuity though the series did okay. The $30 price tag will take some of the sales online. Skipable in most stores. Batman: From The Button to the proposal to Jokes & Riddles, this book is on fire. Order up.  Great cover. Batman 66 Meets the Legion of Super-Heroes: Biff Pow Bam I despite Batman 66. I love the Legion. Quite the conundrum. Since Legion has been absent for so long it’s likely fans will grab anything and this has a sweet nostalgic bent to it with Ferro Lad and the rest of the 60’s heroes.  Strange though it may seem, looking at Bugs Bunny / Legion for guidance on numbers. Green Arrow: Hard Traveling Hero part 2 with Wonder Woman. No data on the first part with Flash but this should do better than previous recent issues. Harley Quinn: Pretty lousy cover on the main but the variant is a diptych cover with the second part coming next issue. Hellblazer: With the recent storylines this has fallen to subs only in most stores. Trying to stay ahead of the cuts on this has been a challenge. Super Sons: New arc. Pull for Teen Titans. Teen Titans Earth One TP: We haven’t done well with the soft covers on these.  Seem most fans grabbed the HCs and are done. Subs plus...

We have another 34 fellow retailers signed up this week so a quick reminder of what this is.  Each week I post the FOC notes that go out to my store managers.  The notes are an amalgam of the Gallery’s comments.  The Gallery is made up of store managers and assistant managers with a lot of varied likes and dislikes. If they have varying opinions on a book, I usually note that. If there’s no comment on a book, it’s likely that it’s just the next issue in the series so cycle sheets should cover that. You’re getting a generally unedited version of the notes. This will include misspellings, typos, and incomplete or run-on sentences as some distraction reared its head Sunday evening when I do these. I’ll try to keep them to a minimum but that be what they be. These notes are not an attack on any creator.  I like a lot of people in the industry but I like my own wallet more – if I can’t pay my Diamond bill I can’t sell anything in the future.  I simply can’t afford to support a project that none of my managers thinks will sell. Give me great books to sell and we’ll both make money. Give me a lackluster project and I won’t lament its passing. Your store(s) is different than my stores. I may sell things better or worse than you. I’m not telling you how to order, I’m telling you how I order. If it’s useful, wonderful.  If not, laugh at me and move on. I won’t usually defend my position as there’s simply...

Zodiac Starforce: First series came and went without much fanfare. It’s returnable at 10 copies so find your ceiling on Dark Horse. American Way: First series was subs only after a few issues.  The Gallery doesn’t seem to think this will be any different. Bane Conquest: Lot of the first issue people didn’t come back for the second.  Seeing the expected drop. Batman: We come off The Button and right into an under-ordered event so sales are all over the place.  FOC for Batman 24 second printings was Saturday so put in AROs if you missed it. For this issue, it’s Joker so up some. Beautiful Josh Middleton cover but Joker fans will want the main cover. Bug: No data on #2 so placeholder. Deathstroke: Adding a new dimension to the former one-trick villain.  He’s now a good guy on the road to redemption along with a new team to back him up. Looks a bit like Thunderbolts crossed with Deathstroke.  Worth a few extra copies but only if you’re showing it to potential fans of dysfunctional team books. Green Arrow: Flash Team-up so that will gain some attention. Thinking 25% higher for Flash and pull for those hardcore Flash fans. Justice League: Pull for Aquaman but considering that this title has been off the rails for a while that should just stave off the drops. Hanazuki Full of Treasures: I get that publishers are scrambling for licensed properties but I don’t get this and neither does the Gallery. 10 gets you returnability but that’s money out for 60 days with not a lot of upside. Sacred Creatures: Love...

Wonder Woman Movie: If you haven’t seen it, slap yourself and then go see it.  Great movie.  Sure, it has its flaws and haters will hate but this one was pretty solid all around.  Should help bring WW to the forefront of DC for a while to some. Art of Rick & Morty HC: Fans of R&M love the series but will they drop $40 on a HC of the art?  Maybe. As it’s $36 on Amazon it’s not a huge stretch to buy it when they see it. Bankshot: Gallery isn’t thrilled about this.  Like, zero copies sort of not-thrilled.  Subs only. Dark Hose Mask DC Comics TP: Despite the nostalgia nod to this, the Dc Dark Horse trades have been pretty lackluster sellers. Maybe one. Maybe none. Action Comics: Not much for sales boost or fall here but a note that one cover (Zircher) is pretty phenomenal and depicts what’s going on inside while the variant is basically a cover that could go on any Superman comic or even a cereal box. Can’t wait until DC switches up this sort of variant. Aquaman Kingdom Lost TP: Not really relevant to today’s continuity and not a #6 to the series’ #5 so not sure what the market is here other than slim to none. Bat Signal Prop: EVERY Batfan wants one (or two) of these but not every Batfan has $300 lurking in his wallet. Nice to have one for the fan who does, though. Maybe one. Batman Elmer Fudd: This will likely do the best out of the crossovers due to Batman. 25% higher than the others....
