FOC Usagi Yojimbo The Hidden: As much as I wish I could sell this and support Stan Sakai, I know it won’t sell any better than his previous work, which though great stuff, hasn’t found a very large audience. Action 1000 Poster: Kinda cool. This was going to be part of the Action 1000 HC but costs made it prohibitive. So here it is in all its postage-stamp-sized glory. Superman nostalgia fans will want this and it’s more an event than a poster so even if you don’t sell posters, you can likely sell this. Order 5 and you get one (for display) free. Batman Sins of the Father: This may have been one bat too far. Very disappointing sales, which shows that even the strongest ox can be over-worked. Cutting to sales on #2. Batwoman: Fall of the House of Kane part 1. The A cover is, weirdly enough, pretty strong to me. I think it could grab a few extra looks and maybe a few extra sales. Brave & Bold Batman WW: This one seems to be selling more like WW than Batman, which means it’s selling about half to 75% of what I expected. Fans will likely stick with it so 80% of sales on #2, Cave Carson: Same as the last series plus maybe 20% for the #1. The second cover looks like a tribute to Prince gone awry. Curse of the Brimstone: Coliseum might not be your best advisor on this as we pre-sold the entire New Age group of #1s as a series as part of Jim Lee’s appearance. We had 556 people...

Neil Gaiman’s American Gods My Ainsel: 10 copies makes it returnable.  Likely to sell like the last series but add a couple for the #1.   DC Universe By BKV: Not a lot of cohesion to this collection. If you have a BKV shelf this can fill it out a bit but otherwise skippable. Eternity Girl: Bit of a mixed review on this one but everyone seems to agree that Young Animals sell at a certain level so go there.  Pull for Shade the Changing Girl and anyone who bought all the Milk Wars titles. New Superman & JLA China: An unsellable character added some more unsellable characters and… the book didn’t sell any better than the previous issue. Disappointing but not surprising.   Sideways: #1 did pretty decent. Going about 60% of #1 sales on #2.   Swamp Thing Winter Special: Back to press due to a lot of requests. Get some if you’re out..   Ghostbusters Crossing Over: Same as the last. 20 gets returnability though that’s likely high for most stores.   Dry County: Pull for Tommoso’s other titles, She Wolf, Spy Seal, Dark Corridor.   Infidel: No confidence vote from the Gallery. Lower end Image.   Kick-Ass: #1 did okay but expect the Image drop for #2. This is a very different character so the fondness of the character won’t carry it.   Postal Laura: Pull and order for Postal.   VS: #1 did okay, which is not a good thing for an Image title. Expect it to drop pretty quickly on #2.   Avengers: Bruce Banner returns. Fans will want this though let’s hope...

Harley: Facing off with come classic Bat-villains so it may regain some of the bored readers. Worth watching if not worth a bump.   Shade the Changing Woman: Can’t really see a bump in this as fans jumped off and the book was put on hiatus. Relaunching will likely grab those who were reading before the hiatus but not many others.   Superman: First appearance of Boyzarro for what it’s worth. Superman has been doing well and this might grab a few more readers.   Highest House: I don’t know who the market is for this but at 4.99 it’s even smaller than a 3.99 project. Returnable at 10 copies but can you move enough to not just tie up cash flow?   October Faction: This is a book that could have used a 10-and-returnable deal as we do well with it in some stores and can’t move any in others, which is how we’ll order this one. Should do the same as the last.   Spider King: Cowboys Vs Aliens with Vikings. Sounds fun and we’ll sell some. It is a serialized reprint of a Kickstarter OGN so the danger that the core fans who would like this may already have it is out there. Middle of the road IDW title.   Gideon Falls: Lemire has his fans and this will gain some attention though the covers don’t help this at all. Looking at medium Image numbers on #1.   Oblivion Song: Support this. Kirkman gave out trade paperbacks of the first 6 issues a month ago to the top 1500 Diamond accounts. No saying we didn’t know...

FOC 02.05.18

Buffy Giles: Buffy is kinda flatlined as a franchise (Sarah Michelle Gellar is now 40!) and Giles wasn’t a major star to begin with. Maybe ¾ of current Buffy numbers.   Doctor Star: Black Hammer series so that’s your number. Returnable at 10 copies but that’s moot if you’re not selling 10 Black Hammer.   FCBD Overwatch: Video game comic but everything Overwatch has done very well. Order up.   FCBD Legend of Korra: Another good FCBD book. LOKorra has been popular and should get some fans back.   Hungry Ghosts: #1 did okay. Returnable at 10 copies.   Milk & Cheese TP: If you’re not familiar with this, it’s lunacy and fun. Long out of print and worth carrying.   Absolute Batman Killing Joke: What was once a $3.50 story expanded to a $17.99 HC and now, with some added material, $49.99. Yeah, someone will want this and oddly enough, it’s not on Amazon.   Action Comics 80 Years of Superman: This one is tough. Let’s change the title for a moment to “80 Years of Superman” with a new story by (possibly) Jerry Siegel. How many of this retrospective would you order? I’m thinking not many. But it will be tied in with Action #1000 and that will spur some additional sales. 25% of Action sales? Maybe 20%?   Dark Nights Metal Dark Nights Rising HC: Sellable more so than a lot of other HCs of late. Get some. Dark Nights Metal Deluxe HC: Worth having in stock until the trade comes out. Order it.   Doom Patrol JLA Special: Match to the JLA Doom Patrol Special....
