Black Hammer: Sold okay but not to expectations. Fans will come back for the rest of the series if they bought the first series.   Witchfinder: Same as the last low-selling series.   Batgirl Var: Beautiful Josh Middleton cover and one of the first minimalized logo variants. Should garner a few extra sales if not readers.   Doomsday Clock: Sales have been both steady and strong for this series. Throw a creep-tacular Joker cover on the book and even those on the fence about another Watchmen series might be swayed to take a look. Order up on the variant as most fans will want the Joker cover.   Flash: Flash War part one. Flash is already one of our top sellers and giving folks a reason to jump (back) on means stronger sales. Yeah, this looks like a great jump-on story. Mattina does the variant though both covers are strong. Bump 10-25% for part 1.   Justice League No Justice: Holding the same as #2. No matter how we order this, we’re gonna get it wrong.   Sideways & Silencer #1 2nd Prints: These have done well for us though we have them tied to Jim Lee’s signing so no huge surprise. But we’re seeing a lot of stores are out and needing to get people on board, so this is a nice offering by DC, if not a bit late.  If you’re out, get some.   Suicide Squad Var: Mattina. Pretty nice stuff!   Superman Zero Hour TP: 29.99 for outdated stories featuring Supermen best left behind. Hard pass.   Delta 13: Steve Niles fans will come on...

Short list this week.   Ether Copper Golems: Fun series but hasn’t gotten a lot of attention on the previous series. 10 makes it returnable so show it to your Matt Kindt fans and see where it lands.   Batman 45 2nd Print: Surprised how well this sold (Booster Gold) but as Batman is on a roll under Tom King, it shouldn’t be a surprise. If you’re out, get it back in stock.   Harley Loves Joker: This one gets a placeholder as until we know if #1 is a success (Black Book) or an utter dumpster fire (Betty & Veronica). And it’s only 2 issues.   JL No Justice: With no data on #1, this is too big a crap-shoot to guess high on. About 50% of JL and ARO if #1 is a knock-out.   New Superman TP Vol 3: Is anyone else surprised this is still even being published? Zero is good.   Superman Special: Doesn’t look too special. File stories without a lot of draw. 2/3-3/4 Superman and be happy to sell out.   Flavor: Doesn’t look like a lot to recommend it. Lower-end Image.   Avengers #2: Thanks again Marvel! Publishing on the backs of retailers with no regard for how we possibly order this correctly. Going 50% of Avengers #1 and will reorder or go for second prints if it sells out.   FF HCS: Three HCs on FOC this week to push the relaunch. Don’t fall for it. Fans will be dubious and won’t be looking for older material that they haven’t sought out over the last few years while FF wasn’t...

FOC 04.16.18

World of Tanks: Same as the last one. If you haven’t shown this to fans of Ennis’ other war books, it’s an easy sell.   Batgirl & Birds of Prey: Last issue. No bump, just noting it.   Batman 44 2nd Print: Completists will want the B&W cover so even if you still have these on your stands, get some.   Batman Dark Prince Charming: The first volume did quite well. No doubt fans will come back for this one.   DC Young Animals Milk Wars TP: The Young Animals line has fallen from favor with sales finding new lows so a 19.99 trade paperback relying on Batman on the cover to sell it is unlikely to find a new audience. One or less.   Flash Variant: Mattina means added sales. Flash fans are more likely to want this cover than the A cover.   Immortal Men #2: Without Jim Lee’s name attached this will be more in line with the Terrrifics or lower.   Justice League No Justice: Spinning out of Metal, which may have some legs but it’s more likely to emulate Justice League than Metal in sales. If you’re feeling bold, pull for Metal. If you’re dubious, pull for JLA. Either way, it’s Snyder and he tells great stories.   Scooby Apocalypse: The Death of Fred Jones. Worth a bump.   Suicide Squad: Batman story. This might have better sales potential in a market not already saturated with Bat-options. Then again, look at what Batman did for Deathstroke sales. Worth a bump and rack it with Batman. As the variant is Mattina, put your bump there....

From planes, trains, and automobiles on the way back from the Diamond Summit in Chicago, we bring you this week’s FOC notes, now with more editorial.   Xerxes: Though not abysmal, I’m disappointed in the first week numbers.  Miller isn’t the draw he was, and this isn’t for everyone. Going same numbers as what sold as those who bought this were already all in.   Action Comics Special: This looks like it concludes the current storyline so despite being a 4.99 book on the heels of 7.99 Action 1000, this should sell to the previous Action readers like a regular issue.   Curse of Brimstone: We ordered conservatively on #1 and sales were strong for that order. Going 75% of what sold on #1 for this issue.   DC Artist Alley Figs: Interesting take on the classics but, y’know, Batman in sneakers isn’t everyone’s Batman. Might find a different audience than statues like the regular B&W line but at $40 per, it’s not a quick sell for most stores.   DC Core Batman PVC: If you sell the Diamond Gallery figs, you can sell this.   DC Design Trinity Statue: I love this. It’s pricy but for 3 statues in one, of DC’s dynamic trio, simply wonderful.   DC Nation #0: I love this. I know it’s not a traditional FCBD sort of thing but it’s the cheapest of the FCBD offerings and such a great jumping on point that it’s worth ordering more than the million copies DC announced at the Summit. Order for EVERY subscriber customer and bag-stuff it to everyone else. Your cost is 12-13 cents...

Aliens Dust to Dust: It doesn’t seem to matter how much time goes by between series’, the numbers run about the same. Not Hardaman this time around so maybe a bit lower but 10 copies gets you returnable so start there.   Batgirl 22: Variant by Middleton, who tends to sell a few extras. No pic though.   JLofA: Mattina variant. Worth some extras.   Silencer: JRJR is off the book and Deathstoke shows up. Pulling for Deathstroke might be a bit bold but at least point it out.   Mother Panic: Numbers continued in decline from the previous series, which does not bode well.   Suicide Squad: Variant by Mattina. Get extras as this one will do well.   Superwoman Vol 3 TP: This was canceled for poor sales so it needs to be collected? Nope. It doesn’t. Order zero and wait for the cancelation notice.   Terrifics: #2 did okay. Likely to settle in the mid-range for a DC title.   Titans Annual: Conclusion of the story running through the title. Should sell the same as a regular issue.   Antar: The Gallery was… unkind to this title. No one will notice if this isn’t on your new comic shelf.   Crow: Mixed bag of sales. Should settle relatively low.   Danger Girl 20 Years: Holy… twenty years? That went fast. Anyways, Campbell has his fanbase nicely tied up so that crowd will but this as they but his variant covers for $19.99 or more day of release. Low to middle Image number since it’s 9.99 but it will have a long shelf life. Get some. Star...
