Batman 51: Dear DC, Please do not put Dick Grayson in the Batsuit. Sincerely, every sales failure that featured someone else as Batman.  But Tom King hasn’t let us down yet. Very sweet cover by Kaare Andrews. DC Beach Blanket Bad Guys Special: This looks like an idea that probably sounded better when buoyed by a night of drinking but come morning, we have a 9.99 special with limited appeal. The Gallery likes this and though no one is suggesting we go crazy, it will do better than we think. So for the weirded-out-by-Walmart crowd, here’s a book by Paul Dini, a Joker story with Mattina (!) art that’s incredible, and a bunch of who-cares stories taking up the rest of the pages, how many can you sell? I see it as a low-end book, even if it does look fun. If it were an ongoing, it would be subs only by #2. Injustice Vs Masters of the Universe: I see this as a cross-over between two generations and that’s going to hurt. Maybe pull for Injustice but expect a lot of kick-back. Gallery thinks this will do better than the last MotU / Thundercats. Teen Titans Go To the Movies: With the movie coming out, this is a nice reminder that there are related comics. Euthanauts: I don’t see a hook for this and don’t see sales that will come. Lower end. No info on the incentive on the FOC page and considering the book, I’m not inclined to chase it. Full Bleed #2: Seems that everyone who wanted this got if off Kickstarter as we sold ONE...

Disney Pixar Incredibles: Great timing! The movie is in theaters and we’re3 ordering the first issue for 3 weeks from now. Some days simply don’t make sense. Anyway, should sell like the Joe Books Disney titles and worth having on the stands for a while   GoT Tyrion Figure: I love the show and Tyrion is one of the reasons but y’know, this just isn’t a very dynamic figure. Tack on the 29.99 price and even the most ardent Got and Tyrion fans will pass. So… pass.   She Could Fly: Berger Books though anyone who came into comics in the last 3-4 years won’t have any connection to that name. Book read well and seems okay – had a Powers feel to it. 10 gets you returnability so starting there and seeing where sales take it.   Detective Variant: Nice Mark Brooks cover. Worth a bump for the art collectors.   Flash: 50th issue so that’s worth a small bump. The Mattina cover is pretty sweet as usual.   Hawkman: #1 did okay but keep in mind, we’re working with Hawkman here. Despite the nice art, the character doesn’t make your average reader clamor for the next issue. Going about 80% of sales on #1.   Justice League Odyssey: Since it’s not on Diamond’s FOC pafe: Spinning out of JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE! When a cosmic menace threatens worlds beyond our own in the Ghost Sector, it falls to a new Justice League team to answer the call to battle! Cyborg, Starfire, Green Lantern Jessica Cruz and an out-of-his-element Azrael head to deep space inside a commandeered Brainiac...

Anthony Bourdain’s Hungry Ghosts HC: There’s likely a lot of sudden nostalgia for Bourdain due to his death last week. Keep in mind that this book isn’t hitting until SEPTEMBER, by which time we’ll likely see a few more celebrity deaths and Bourdain will be forgotten except for the people who would have bought this when he was alive. Order for those folks, which may be zero. On another note, with two celebrity suicides in a week and knowing that comic retail can be a difficult thing under the best of times, please call someone or if you have no other option, message me, before doing something terribly permanent. There’s always a solution even if it’s not your first option. Quantum Age: Order and pull for Blackhammer. Batman 50: Coliseum is in a different place than a lot of retailers so I’m breaking this down into two categories: If you are getting an exclusive variant, I’m thinking we order in regular Batnumbers. A lot of folks want a non-exclusive option and even those who want the variants will want a regular cover as well. The Jim Lee variant is nothing short of amazing and art (variant) fans will add it readily to the stack. Order to accommodate, likely in equal numbers to the wedding cover. The Art Adams cover is only so-so for me so don’t put a lot of $$$ in that line. If you’re not getting a variant, I’d go 100% to 125% on each the regular and Lee cover and a handful of Adams covers. Catwoman: Joelle Jones does wonderful work but wow, the Artgerm cover...

Bedtime Games: “Deathheads was a cool book and just like Deathheads, this won’t sell either.” That from the Gallery and yeah, that pretty much nails it. 10 copies gets you an additional 10% if you’re close.   Blackwood: #1 did okay but look for the damning #2 drop. 50-60% of what you sold on #1.   Modern Fantasy: Not sure the venue for this but it could appeal to the peripheral edges of the Rat Queens crowd. Worth pulling for those hardcore fans.   Batgirl: Getting some attention with the Middleton covers and throwing Two-Face into the mix will help the story and maybe keep new buyers hooked. Don’t be caught short.   Batman B&W Man Who Laughs Statue: Pretty cool and even traditional Joker fans might break their mold and pick this one up.   Batman Prelude Harley & Joker: This should do the best of these. Pull for Batman and for Harley. Anything less than Batnumbers will likely leave you short.   DC Artist Alley Murase Figures: For a statue like the Gallery statues, these are great. For a 6 ½” “figure”, they’re a bit pricey. Worth carrying and will likely sell more like Gallery than action figures.   Batman & Catwoman Statue: Coming in November, which is 4 months after the wedding. And we have no idea if the Joker will win the day and the nuptials will actually happen. Still a nice statue, just not very timely.   DC Core Statues: Nice, inexpensive-for-figures, and should sell like the Gallery line. Disappointed that there’s no quantity discount.   Cover Girl Catwoman: Beautiful Joell Jones piece. Worth...
